Rasoi serves over 1,400 free meals in Swansea this summer

This summer, we at Rasoi had the privilege of being part of something truly special. Together with Faith in Families and their Back to School with a Cwtch campaign, we served over 1,400 free, freshly cooked meals to families across Swansea.

At the Back to School with a Cwtch community events in Bonymaen, Clase, and Portmead, our team dished up our famous Butter Chicken curry and rice to families in need. Alongside the food, nearly 1,000 free backpacks and school supplies were handed out, helping ease the stress of preparing for the new school year.

Suki Kullar, Rasoi Owner, said:

“At Rasoi, community has always been at the heart of what we do. We know how tough the summer holidays and back-to-school period can be for many families, so being able to provide a warm meal and a moment of togetherness felt really important. Seeing children and parents relax, smile, and share food was a reminder of why we do this.”

The rising cost of living has put real pressure on families, and we wanted to play our part in making life a little easier. Faith in Families does incredible work every single day, and we’re proud to stand alongside them.

Cherrie Bija, CEO of Faith in Families, put it perfectly:

“Back to School with a Cwtch is about more than supplies — it’s about giving children the confidence to start the school year feeling valued and prepared. Thanks to Rasoi, families could sit down together over a warm, delicious meal, turning what could have been a stressful day into a moment of connection.”

Moments like these remind us why community matters so deeply to us at Rasoi. Food has a way of bringing people together, and this summer, it did just that.
